After 494 B.C the Plebeians thought that they were being treated unfairly and they had a strike. Some of left Rome or abandoned their shops. The Patricians were worried that they would rebel and so they gave them more rights and privileges to make them feel fair with the Patricians. They were now allowed to marry Patricians and they had government power, the Consul of Plebs and Tribunes. They began to be commoners and could become shop keepers and artisans. By this, the Plebeians were able to be treated more fairly.
There were 2 types people in the Roman society, The plebeians and the patricians, the patricians were the rich class that owned all of the money and had all of the large farms. They had government power to represent them and they had veto power. They had consuls and senators. Plebeians on the other hand, were the poor shopkeepers that didn't make a lot of money. They didn't have many rights, just voting. And they couldn't marry patricians and they had no government power.
